They built a life on lies
Sutton and Ethan Montclair’s idyllic life is not as it appears. They seem made for each other, but the truth is ugly. Consumed by professional and personal betrayals and financial woes, the two both love and hate each other. As tensions mount, Sutton disappears, leaving behind a note saying not to look for her.
Ethan finds himself the target of vicious gossip as friends, family and the media speculate on what really happened to Sutton Montclair. As the police investigate, the lies the couple have been spinning for years quickly unravel. Is Ethan a killer? Is he being set up? Did Sutton hate him enough to kill the child she never wanted and then herself? The path to the answers is full of twists that will leave the reader breathless.
This is the second J.T. Ellison book that I have read, and I have to say I loved it. The writing style is beautiful and captivating.
Just like with the first J.T. Ellison book I read, Tear Me Apart , once I started it, I couldn’t stop. I love the way that Ellison is able to intertwine a story and keep the details so straight.
This one kept me intrigued and also guessing from the beginning. Ethan and Sutton are such intricate characters and the way the story line is split in two timelines is a great way to really dig into the characters past and future development.
I did have a few issues with some of the actual things that happened in the story though. Like Ethan tricking Sutton with sugar pills in hopes of getting her pregnant against her will. But again, this is fiction and the author is just going for shock factor.
I give this book 4 stars.
